Project Control Specialist - Client in the energy industry (hybrid remote position)

Our client is looking for a Project control specialist in the energy industry. The Project control specialist is in need of several experienced Project Control Specialists to support Senior Project and Program Managers within their Major Capital Projects PMO.

On a daily basis, you will have to:

  • Assist the Project Manager (PM) in creating project status reports and establish trends: Gather and assemble project costs and schedule data as required by the PM - Review output to ensure validity of the data. Compile all pertinent information into regular reports and circulate to various levels of management.
  • Assist the PM in tracking the progress of the project. Assist the PM in change and risk management. Implement controls on projects with a multitude of considerations such as financial impacts, environmental regulations and compliance requirements, corporate reputation, safety requirements, suitability to business unit requirements, labour, flexibility for future growth and/or alternate usages.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules including baseline schedule development, planning, progress tracking, reporting, change control and analysis of schedule impacts. Collect, prepare, and analyze data to assist with development and maintenance of the project forecast. Forecasting and detailed planning of assigned projects shall be the joint responsibility of the project manager and the Project Control Specialist.
  • Ensure implementation of and compliance with document and project control standards including Corporate and CPMO objectives.
  • Assist the project manager in preparing project management deliverables, KPIs, and reports consistent with reporting requirements.
  • Effectively manage projects through its full life cycle using SAP, including Project Systems, Work Management, Plant Maintenance, Materials Management or other modules as necessary to deliver quality projects within scope, on time, and on/under budget. Integrate engineering and construction supervision staff in the planning and execution of project deliverables.
  • Maintain effective work relationships with co-workers and staff in other departments and business units.
  • Respond to queries from both internal and external sources.
  • Assist the PM in procurement management and material coordination.
  • Assist the PM with project meetings. Create and update scheduling data while monitoring activity progress with the responsible department.
  • Work with the PM to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and time constraints.
  • Practice and promote safe work habits.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • University degree / Technical Diploma / Certificate in business administration / Project Management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in utilizing a variety of computer applications, especially advanced skills in Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Visio. Working knowledge of SAP is a must.
  • Previous project management, and/or Primavera P6 Scheduling experience would be a definite asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project management support.
  • Must have a continuing record of career development.
  • Good command of the English language (both oral and written).

This role is expected to be based out of the client’s head office in Regina, Saskatchewan. The position requires the ability to work primarily on-site in Regina. There is some flexibility around scheduling, but full-time remote work is not an option.
